Family, friends, and Father Christmas made sure there was plenty of festive cheer at our Christmas Party. There was balloon modelling and games for the children. Our kitchen team laid on a cheerful spread of party favourites. All ages enjoyed the visit by Santa. And live music got feet tapping. Ticket sales for our raffle were brisk, and combined with the money raised by selling homemade edible treats and decorations in our Victorian Christmas Shoppe, we have raised a grand total of £354 this year. The money will be split between Exeter Dementia Action Alliance and the Parkinson’s Society, helping to spread seasonal goodwill that little bit further.
“It’s important that our residents can celebrate Christmas the way they want to,” commented Helen Rushton, Home Director. “Family and friends often feature strongly memories of Christmas past. That’s why our Christmas party, which brings together residents, staff and their friends and family, is such an important part of the run up to Christmas at Green Tree Court.
“We’re really pleased that we’ve been able to fit an extra 20 guests in for lunch on Christmas Day, ensuring loved ones can enjoy this essential part of a traditional Christmas together. But we also realise that not everyone will be able to visit on that day, so we wanted to do something special for them too. Lots of our team will also be working here over the holidays and away from their family. So our Christmas party is an opportunity to get together to celebrate before the day itself. I’d like to take this chance to say a big thank you to our fantastic staff who will give up much, and sometimes all, of their Christmas to make it such a special time for the residents they care for.”
